Back to Our Regularly Scheduled Program

Hey Everybody! (Hi Dr. Nick)… Ahem. So, just a quick update. With the holiday schedule, and some craziness in the workplace, I’ve gotten a little behind in dishing out information. I’ve also twice had the rest of the Rake tutorial almost finished (I write in TextMate before moving it over here) only to have my laptop refuse to wake up, thus requiring a reboot and a loss of my precious, precious words. Lesson learned. So, though I’ve had the wind taken out of my sails a bit, I sense a new breeze coming on. This week we can expect a wrap-up to our forays into the world of Rake.

On another note, I just started playing around with the language Io. I enjoy programming in Ruby quite a lot, warts and all, but Io certainly has got some interesting aspects to it. I’m not sure where it will go exactly, but I’m hoping that through experimentation with Io I’ll get a better understanding of some of the deeper pools in Ruby. Apparently the deliciously dirty things you can do in Ruby (monkey patching, method_missing, etc) are childs play in Io. Sounds like a sandbox ripe for experimentation. Keep your eyes peeled for some tutorials in the new year.
